7/23/2026-Martinez Pounds Austin 22-2 Behind 21-Hit Attack

The Martinez Sturgeon scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back in a commanding 22-2 victory over the Austin Weirdos on July 23, 2026.

Martinez collected 21 hits, drew seven walks and scored in six different innings. The Sturgeon added two runs in the third, one in the fourth, three in the sixth, five in the seventh and four in the eighth.

Austin scored single runs in the third and fifth innings, but the Weirdos were unable to slow down the Martinez offense. Austin finished with six hits and committed five errors, while Martinez played error-free defense.

Josiah Collado led the Sturgeon by going 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Kyle Norton finished 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, four runs scored and three RBIs.

Kyler Hickman added two hits and drove in four runs. Andrew Curran homered and finished with three RBIs, while Elias Gonzalez doubled, scored twice and drove in three runs.

Jesus Marrero contributed two RBIs, and Nick Thomson recorded a double, a run and an RBI. Jacob Connery had two hits, while Michael Pavelchak scored twice and reached base two times.

Austin Sargent led the Weirdos with a perfect 3-for-3 performance that included a double and an RBI. Danelle Daniels went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, one run scored and one RBI. Mason Refuerzo added Austins other hit.

Martinez used four pitchers to hold Austin to two runs. David Gustafson opened the game with two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Brayden Collett allowed one run in the third inning before Justin McFadden worked three innings and surrendered one run on one hit.

Austin Watson closed the game with three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out four. The Martinez pitching staff combined for nine strikeouts and limited the Weirdos to six total hits.

Martinez took control immediately against Austin starter Jay Schulze, scoring seven runs in the opening inning. Gabriel Corniel followed with five innings in relief, but the Sturgeon continued to build their lead before adding nine runs over the final two offensive innings.
