5/19/2026-The Austin Weirdos survived a furious late
comeback by the Bakersfield Train Robbers and
escaped Sam Lynn Ballpark with a wild 13-11 extra-
innings victory on May 19, 2026.
Austin jumped out early and never stopped applying
pressure offensively. In the first inning, Sam
Camacho scored on a wild pitch before Cono Casale
crushed a two-run homer to left field to give the
Weirdos a quick 3-0 advantage.
The Weirdos kept adding on throughout the night.
Jay Schulze scored on another wild pitch in the
second inning, and Austin exploded for four runs
in the fourth. Camacho delivered an RBI single
before Austin Sargent launched a two-run homer to
center field to extend the lead to 8-0.
Austin Sargent led the Weirdos offense with a huge
night at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with a home
run, double, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Alex
Lopez added two hits and an RBI, while Cono Casale
drove in two runs with his early homer.
Austin appeared comfortably in control after
building an 11-1 lead in the sixth inning, but
Bakersfield stormed back with five runs in the
bottom half. Macs Carrillo started the rally with
an RBI double, Jed Downham drove in two with a
single, Joe Starick added an RBI hit, and Cade
Fujii followed with another RBI single to suddenly
cut the deficit to 11-6.
The Train Robbers kept chipping away late.
Christian Alamirano drove in a run in the seventh
before Bakersfield exploded again in the ninth
inning. RBI singles from Joe Starick, Cade Fujii,
Joe Riddle, and Dylan Heil tied the game at 11-11
and completed an incredible comeback.
In extra innings, the Weirdos regained control.
Cesar Ortega scored the go-ahead run on a wild
pitch in the top of the 10th, and Danelle Daniels
later scored on a Bakersfield throwing error to
push the lead to 13-11.
Cesar Ortega then shut the door on the mound,
tossing 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the victory
for Austin. Samuel Anderson gave the Weirdos a
strong start, allowing just one run over five
innings while striking out two.
Bakersfield collected 19 hits in the loss, led by
Joe Starick’s four-hit performance and Dylan
Heil’s four-hit, two-run night. Jed Downham also
drove in three runs for the Train Robbers.
