Santa Fe Fuego Pull Away From Austin Weirdos

July 12 2024 The Santa Fe Fuego defeated the Austin Weirdos 24-8 after building an early lead and scoring in six of the first eight innings. Santa Fe scored four runs in the first inning, added four in the third and five in the fourth to take control. The Fuego later added three runs in the fifth, three in the seventh and five in the eighth. Rodney Scarver led Santa Fe with five hits, including a home run, two runs and seven RBI. Tristan Cavazos added three hits, a home run, four runs and five RBI, while Jeremy DiBartolomeo reached base four times, scored four runs and drove in three. Dominic Scotti contributed three hits, three runs and two RBI, and Robert Starr scored three runs. Scotti also earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing 16 hits and eight earned runs while striking out five without issuing a walk. Austin collected 16 hits, led by William Martinezs four hits, two runs, one RBI and a home run. Steve Snowden went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI, while Marcos Cabrera scored three times. Ryan Drag was charged with the loss after allowing eight runs in three innings.
