Blackwell Flycatchers Rally Past Austin Weirdos 22-10

June 19 2024 The Blackwell Flycatchers defeated the Austin Weirdos 22-10 at Morgan Field after the teams traded runs through the first three innings. Austin scored twice in the first, five times in the second and three times in the third, while Blackwell answered with two, three and two runs to forge a 10-7 game after three innings. The Flycatchers then took control with five runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and six in the sixth before both teams were held scoreless over the final three innings.

Blackwell collected 19 hits and hit four home runs. Dominic Pisano drove in six runs, while C. Phillips had two hits and five RBI. Markus Bracey scored four runs and drove in three, and both Salinas and Rey Lozano scored four times, with Salinas adding three hits and two RBI. J. Dice also homered and scored twice. Austin finished with 10 hits, led by J. Marinez and M. Cabrera with two hits apiece; Marinez drove in four runs and Cabrera added two RBI. Marinez and Cabrera each hit a home run for the Weirdos.

Brendan Moran earned the win for Blackwell with two scoreless innings, allowing no hits while walking one and striking out three. J. Harper followed with two hitless scoreless innings and four strikeouts, and D. Martin and Matt Rones each worked a scoreless inning. Austin starter Ryan Drag allowed 10 runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings, and Sergio Mendoza took the loss after surrendering 12 runs on nine hits in 2.2 innings.

The Flycatchers finished with 22 runs on 19 hits and committed two errors, while Austin had one error. Blackwells 15 runs across the fourth through sixth innings turned a close contest into a 12-run victory.
