Austin Weirdos Hold Off Roswell Invaders 13-11

May 31 2024 The Austin Weirdos defeated the Roswell Invaders 13-11 after building an early lead and holding off Roswell’s comeback attempt. Austin scored five runs in each of the first two innings to take a 10-0 advantage, then added three runs in the eighth. Roswell responded with one run in the third, four in the fourth, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh, but could not complete the comeback.

Oscar Galvez led Austin’s 14-hit attack by going 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI and a walk. Alex Westman added two hits, scored once and drove in five runs, while Steve Snowden hit a home run and finished with two RBI. Reed Carter also homered for Austin, which collected five doubles in the game.

Roswell’s Lucas Scott went 3-for-5 with two home runs, two runs and four RBI. Luis Moreno had one hit and two RBI, while Maikol Perez added two hits and a double. The Invaders finished with nine hits and drew 12 walks, but Austin’s early offensive burst proved decisive.

Jalil Marinez earned the win for Austin after allowing three hits and two runs over three innings, with three walks and two strikeouts. Alex Bolton took the loss for Roswell, surrendering 14 hits and 13 earned runs in 7 1/3 innings while striking out nine and walking four. Jordan Rodriguez followed with 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the Invaders.
